It’s been a long time coming, but we are finally ready to break ground and begin expanding the Tree of Life (September 2015) and it’s so exciting to consider the possibilities! In case you’re wondering what we have in store, there will be a new 90 m2 yoga room to the back side of the existing studio, with a wall of glass windows that will open out to a terrace and garden, allowing us to practice in the fresh air on beautiful days. Also downstairs there will be a changing room, 2 bathrooms and a small kitchen. The “treehouse” upstairs will be extended to bring more space, light and freedom. Our current yoga room downstairs will be a gathering place, where students can enjoy a refreshing cup of tea after class while relaxing and catching up with friends, reading a book from the yoga library or perusing the mats and props for sale.
When I moved to Belgium 10 years ago, I remember thinking how great it would be to open a yoga studio to serve the yoga community in Tervuren. Three years ago we opened our doors and soon we’ll be opening them even wider, allowing us to serve more students and offer more classes and workshops. This is only possible because of the tremendous support I’ve received from all the students at the Tree, the wonderful team of teachers who teach at the Tree, from my own teachers (past and present) who have helped shape my growth and development as a teacher and as a person, and from my family and friends, most notably my husband with his “just do it” attitude. Well, we’re about to do just that, and I hope you’ll join us as we venture along in this journey. It’s going to get messy, but I can guarantee it will be worth it!
